What happens during glass replacement?
Windshield installation requires a few necessary steps, especially before the appointment even occurs:
1. Collect your vehicle information.
Before you call us, it’s best to gather some information that will help us to schedule your appointment.
We’ll need to know details such as:
- Type of glass that’s damaged (windshield, back glass, side window)
- Make, model, and year of vehicle
- Number of doors (2-door or 4-door)
- If glass is heated
- If there is a rain sensor
- If there is a heads-up display
- If there are turn signals in mirrors
- If there is a rearview mirror dimmer
- What your VIN number is
2. Talk with us.
We’ll ask questions about the damages, your needs, and appointment details. We’re happy to schedule a time at our location or come to your home or workplace to make the process easier. Most of our appointments are same-day or next-day, whenever possible.
3. Attend your appointment.
Whether you’re bringing your car to the shop or having a team meet you at home or work, make sure the keys are available to technicians at the time of your appointment. They’ll call about 30 minutes before arrival so you can prepare.
During your appointment, a team will remove the damaged glass, apply adhesive, prepare your new glass, and install it. In all, this only takes about 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of vehicle.
4. Enjoy a new windshield.
About an hour after installation, owners are free to drive their vehicles with very few restrictions. We’ll remind you of the details when we leave the job.
